Authorities in Decatur, Alabama are looking for a 14-year-old girl, who hasn't been seen since Wednesday. Fourteen-year-old Irma Maria Diego-Gomez was last seen at around 7:45 a.m., when she left her home to go to school. The Alabama teen didn't return home that afternoon, triggering a search for her that has lasted for nearly 24 hours. Is this teenager voluntarily missing, or did something horrible happen to her?

The Decatur Daily reports that 14-year-old "wasn't living with family" at the time of her disappearance, but the details are vague. She is reportedly from Guatemala, and has family in Guatemala, but it's unknown if she has blood relatives in Alabama.

Could this missing child be a runaway? It's impossible to tell this early in the case, but authorities are definitely playing this case tight. They refuse to acknowledge whether they're investigating this as a child abduction case or a voluntary disappearance. No AMBER Alert has been issued, but a missing child alert is still in effect.

If you've seen this missing teenager, please do not hesitate to contact law enforcement in Decatur, Alabama at (256) 341-4660. Any information or potential sightings could lead to the safe recovery of this missing child.
