June 9, 2013 Linton, Ind.: A 19-year-old is missing in the area, and officials are seeking help in locating her. Katelyn Wolfe is 5'2" and petite with black hair. She wears glasses and has facial piercings and was reportedly last seen wearing a black and white striped shirt with blue jeans. Her case is immediately suspicious because she has not been in contact with any of her friends or loved ones since around 3:00 a.m., Thursday (June 6th).
Police have also stated that they believe this young woman is in danger. But there have been no clarifications as to why they believe this. Whatever details they have that the media/public doesn't, they must be disturbing.
Was this woman kidnapped or is her case something more sinister?
Her father reported her missing, telling officials that she had been communicating with an unidentified person on the phone -- "looking for someone to hang out with." It's unknown if she was speaking to someone she knew or if she was talking to strangers via a chat line or internet connection. She did reportedly post on Facebook around the time, but there has been no activity since that night.
Officials indicate that there were no signs of struggle or foul play in her home, and there were no signs indicating that she intended on vanishing for an extended period of time. Her makeup and other belongings were left behind.
Her Facebook page is likely restricted to public view for the most part -- as is normal with the new security settings -- but her last public post was a change of profile photo which was on June 5th -- the day before she vanished. Other photos in her public albums indicate that she is essentially like any other young, edgy woman. She listens to rock music, she hangs around a fun-loving crowd and she appears to have a penchant for the darker drug culture. This photo taken from her public Facebook albums is of the Holy Bible, which has been defaced with an inverted cross and a quote from Luke 5:8.
Other photos of the missing woman show her and friends throwing up gang signs and other gestures in smoky-hazed filled rooms, but none of these details offer any indication as to what could have happened to her. However, the presumed lifestyle she led may have put her in a position of vulnerability if she did in fact meet a stranger off the internet.
Hopefully more information comes out in this case -- but most importantly it's hopeful that Katelyn Wolfe finds her way home safely.
