A Florida man is accused of leaving a 19-month-old toddler outside, overnight, during Hurricane Irma. The Dreamin' Demon reports that 36-year-old Angelo Mitchell has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse in association with the incident, which could have ended horribly.
It's fortunate that the child survived, but she was in pretty bad shape when she was located by neighbors a full day after she was reported missing. The 36-year-old Florida man reportedly left his home with the child on the night that Hurricane Irma struck the town of Jasper. When he returned home, he was intoxicated and did not have the child. When the child's mother reported her missing, Angelo Mitchell denied ever leaving the house with her.
The 19-month-old tot was located approximately 500 yards from the home, after scent dogs failed to find her (due to the harsh weather conditions). She was suffering from exposure, and was covered with bug bites. However, she only required hospitalization for the night, and is in good health.
