One year later: Where is Brittney Wood?

Thursday was the one-year-anniversary of Brittney Wood's disappearance (Also reported as Brittany Wood and Britney Wood). Unfortunately her loved ones are still at square one -- not that it matters since their lives are completely embroiled by horrific scandal. Even though Brittney remains missing, many of her uncles and her own brother are accused of several counts of child molestation, sodomy, incest and other sexually deviant charges that have many people wondering if Brittney's disappearance is anything but incidental.

It's my opinion, and gut feeling, that this young woman is dead. She was likely dead the day she vanished. What's more: Human remains were discovered in the region in Ala. where she vanished, but coroners have not yet identified these remains. It's been several months since the remains were located, so what's the holdup?

Brittney Wood left behind a young child when she walked away from her mother's home last year. She was last seen in the company of her uncle Donnie Holland -- who killed himself the day she was reported missing. Donnie was being investigated for child sex crimes at the time of Brittney's disappearance and his suicide. Over the course of the past year Donnie's wife (or live-in-partner, as it were) has been implicated in these sex crimes as well.

So it seems as though Brittney's entire family was involved in some form of child sex crimes, which does not bode well for her young daughter -- nor does it make me feel optimistic about finding her alive after all this time. It's stories like these that paint a picture of backwoods society that is so similar to the stereotypes that it's shameful.
