Those close to the Illinois woman say that she had been victimized in a series of events leading up to her disappearance. Just days before she was last seen, she had reportedly been involved in an "argument" with an unnamed male. The day following this alleged altercation, her home had been burglarized and then set on fire.
Kristen O'Brien was scheduled to interview with detectives regarding the presumed arson of her home. However, she never arrived at her appointment -- and has not been seen or heard from since that day. Furthermore, her phone has been turned off, adding more suspicion to her disappearance.
Initially, it was reported that Kristen O'Brien was last seen leaving her romantic partner's residence on the day she disappeared. She reportedly claimed that she was staying the night with a friend, but did not in fact do this. It's been believed from these initial reports that the missing woman could have disappeared on her own accord. However, recent developments could indicate otherwise.
With it being over a month since she was last seen, it's hard to believe that this missing woman is gone voluntarily. Police in Illinois have searched for O'Brien for more than a month, and there has been very little coverage -- if any -- of her case. So the slow pace could be indicative of what's to come. Hopefully the disappearance of this young woman doesn't turn into a years-long search, but for now all we have are questions.
