Shame on you Rosenberg Police Department!

This is the original post made by Rosenberg Police Dept.
Update: The Rosenberg Police Department is continuing to avoid the point that I have made about their initial comment of "Amen..."

So Rosenberg Police Department (Texas) posted a meme yesterday saying "Let's let God back in our schools!" -- and they posted "Amen..." as a comment that clearly endorses the Christian (or at least a single-deity) faith as an official faith in public schools. This is bad because it violates federal laws that prohibit government offices/bodies from endorsing/promoting the establishment of a single religion.

Being an activist for atheism and atheist rights on a national level (not just my own backyard) I took it upon myself to call this police department and request a comment from the officers in charge of posting this religious meme. I left a message with one of the officers, but the call was never returned. Instead -- they quickly edited the meme to omit the words "Amen.." and instead posted a different comment (which is shown in the comment in this article) <---- click the link!!

They also posted this comment in the feed where hundreds of people argued against their promotion of Christianity as a government office -- and some in support of it:

We would like to be clear about this post..the point was to stimulate interaction about having the right to choose to agree or disagree. It was not a statement about religion.
Choice n. defined as..
1. The act of choosing; selection.
2. The power, right, or liberty to choose; option.
3. One that is chosen.
4. A number or variety from which to choose: a wide choice of styles and colors.
5. The best or most preferable part.
6. Care in choosing.
7. An alternative.
Thank you for all the comments and keep following..
I for one think it's shameful that Rosenberg Police Department thinks it's okay to insult our intelligence. They didn't even delete the meme. They simply edited their public endorsement of god/prayer in schools, and tried to backtrack as if they never endorsed it in the first place. Well, they must not be aware that Facebook keeps a public edit log of all the posts, and all one has to do is click the highlighted "edited" link next to their post.
They simply 'edited' away their endorsement of Christianity in public schools...
At least they realized -- to some level -- that their endorsement of Christianity was wrong. But their dishonest way of wiggling out of admitting responsibility makes me glad I don't live in that town. Dishonest police officers are friends of nobody.
