Remains located in Brown County, Indiana were confirmed as being Kate McGrayel -- a young woman who vanished a year before Lauren Spierer. It was originally believed that the Indiana University graduate vanished voluntarily after leaving for a supposed camping trip in the area, but now it's been made apparent that this was not the case. Officials have not released a cause of death in McGrayel's case, nor have they confirmed whether or not homicide is a possibility. What I would like to know is if they suspect any connection between her death and Spierer's disappearance.
Naturally Lauren Spierer's disappearance has been speculated to be connected to many others -- including Katelyn Markham and Holly Bobo -- so why not question any possible connection to this case? Kate McGrayel attended Indiana University at Bloomington -- just as Lauren Spierer did. They were both living in the area, and both do have similarities in their appearances.
I'm not saying these cases are connected -- because they're likely not. Not every pretty coed who goes missing is the victim of a serial predator, after all. However, I want the possibility to be explored and (hopefully) eliminated by quality, credible investigators. Will law enforcement officials in Indiana look into this?
I recognize that there are many elements in Lauren Spierer's disappearance that point to one of her friends or acquaintances possibly knowing what happened to her, but I also believe that there is an equal possibility that she was kidnapped. She was very drunk and was wandering home (allegedly barefoot) by herself in the very early morning hours while it was still dark. To be blunt, she was easy pickins'. She was out for the taking for any predator to simply scoop her up and do with what he pleased -- and that is very likely what happened. Her friends' behavior is bad enough, but their poor behavior doesn't necessarily mean they are murderers or accomplices to a coverup involving Lauren's death.
It seems awful convenient that all of these beautiful young women are missing in such a tight radius. Not all of them can be isolated cases. Could they be?
